GCWJ: Preparing a Place for You

The Global Center for Woman and Justice (GCWJ) takes Vanguard University students abroad to have them experience how local organizations serve victims and survivors of human trafficking and other types of exploitation. In Summer 2025, the GCWJ will travel to Spain and would like to provide as many students as possible with the opportunity to learn from our partners abroad and their best practices. We want these students to carry on the legacy of studying the issues, being a voice, and making a difference in the fight against human trafficking.

Giving Day 2023 Update

The funds raised during Vanguard Giving Day 2023 were used to provide scholarships to 5 students who studied abroad in Greece this past summer.

Why should donors support this fund?

The GCWJ was founded in 2003, and is a Christian-based, non-profit organization housed within Vanguard University of Southern California. We focus much of our efforts on anti-human trafficking prevention and education and related topics. Our efforts include interdisciplinary studies programs, integrated research, victim-survivor advocacy, and education on issues impacting vulnerable and at-risk populations. Supporting students in their academic and developmental journey to adulthood will be supported by giving them an opportunity to explore their world and apply what they have learned beyond the classroom.

Student Impact

"Without the scholarship funds provided from Giving Day, I would not have been able to participate financially in the GCWJ Study Abroad Program. This opportunity offered an invaluable experience that went beyond just traveling to another country. I was able to connect with survivors and gain a deeper understanding of their experiences as well as gain an appreciation of the work done by those in country fighting to end slavery. This knowledge will not only serve me in my future career endeavors, but it also provided leadership and spiritual growth that I would not have gained otherwise. I am so appreciative to those who gave so I could have this once in a lifetime experience." Melanie Bracamontes-Vargas ‘25, Criminal Justice Major

How will the funds be used?

Giving Day 2024 funds will be used for tuition scholarships and to supplement expenses for study abroad.
