History and Political Science Speaker Series: Inspiring World Changers

Through the great speaker's series, we would like to continue the Department of History and Political Science commitment to scholarship, especially in helping our students think about faith integration. As part of our inaugural Capstone Course: Senior Seminar, we invited Dr. Jessica Hooten Wilson from Pepperdine University and the author of Reading for the Love of God, to speak to our students for the Spring 2024 semester on the topic of reading the great books from the past. The event was a great success! Dr. Hooten Wilson was just one among many speakers invited to speak to our students during the 2023-24 academic year.

Why should donors support this fund?

Hearing from leading scholars, writers, and activists is a valuable part of Vanguard students' educational experience. This speaker series will allow the department to host world changers and thought leaders who inspire our students to go out and make a difference in how they pursue academics, career plans, and their lives as informed and active citizens.

Giving Day 2024 funds will pay honorariums to renowned speakers. The amount raised will determine which and how many speakers we can invite. We are in the process of selecting the Spring 2025 speaker for the Capstone Course.

How will the funds be used?
