O. Cope Budge Library: Growing the Library Endowment
Collect. Connect. Create. Celebrate. These four words are at the heart of the O. Cope Budge Library's service to the Vanguard University community. On this Vanguard Giving Day, join us in our mission to COLLECT, CONNECT, CREATE, and CELEBRATE, by growing the Library Endowment Fund.
Giving Day 2023 Update Through last year’s Giving Day, the library raised $2,280 to increase the library Endowment Fund. This year, we used endowment funds to catalog and process more than 4,300 books for the new Cecil M. Robeck, Jr. Pentecostal Research Collection and to create more flexible learning and event space with new library furniture.Why should donors support this fund?
The Vanguard University Library provides physical and digital spaces to COLLECT, CONNECT, CREATE, and CELEBRATE. It is our goal to provide useful and inviting digital and physical spaces for students to COLLECT resources for a lifetime of curiosity and learning. We aspire to CONNECT students with curated collections of books, archives, digital resources, and technology, and to connect learners with peers, instructors, and librarians. We aspire to equip and inspire our community to CREATE meaningful content in the arts, sciences, and theology. Finally, it is our desire to CELEBRATE the Vanguard community, its rich history, scholarship, academic excellence, and community impact. By growing the library endowment, we build our ongoing ability to COLLECT, CONNECT, CREATE, and CELEBRATE.
How will funds be used?
Vanguard University librarians continually explore new ways to provide access to quality educational resources and the skills necessary for lifelong learning. The Library Endowment Fund is an ongoing sustainable source of revenue used to initiate these new projects and services. Upcoming projects include cataloging and archiving a sizable collection of books and archives related to Vanguard's Pentecostal heritage and promoting the library's connection with our community through digital media outreach and creating an inviting setting in the library for the Vanguard community to express their creativity and celebrate their accomplishments.
