Project Overview
Living Well and Residence Life established the Common Good fund to provide invaluable financial resources to students who find themselves in a difficult, unforeseen, and temporary financially challenging situation.
Giving Day 2023 Update We provided 6 students in need with financial support totaling $1,200.How will funds be used?
All Giving Day donations will support students experiencing unanticipated financial roadblocks that can impact degree completion and well-being. We plan to assist students who are experiencing housing insecurity, thefts, transportation challenges, and other unexpected loss of income where short-term assistance is needed.
Why should donors support this fund?
According to this year’s traditional undergraduate enrollment data, 44% of our on-campus students are of “exceptional financial need” based on Pell Grant status. In 2019, 10% of residential students who cancelled housing indicated it was due to financial need. Lastly, our 2021 Basic Needs Survey revealed 10% of our students experience housing insecurity while enrolled at Vanguard University. As Vanguard students pursue their education, there are times when an unexpected financial roadblock creates a dire situation, when covering basic needs (including tuition and books) becomes a stretch or even unattainable. In these situations, a little financial help goes a long way. It is our desire to see our students thrive as they work towards completing their degree and beyond!
