Veterans Scholarship Fund
The Veterans Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program designed to provide tuition support for Veterans who have exhausted their VA educational benefits. Veterans often support families, so the financial obligation to continue education is often outweighed by those of the home life.
Giving Day 2023 Update
This is the third year of this project, and the Veteran’s Scholarship Fund continues to grow. Our first recipient completed his master’s degree in 2023, and this past year, we were able to pay the balance for another veteran whose benefits expired in the middle of the semester.
Why should donors support this fund?
When a veteran separates from the military, they often must build a completely new life. Educational benefits afford veterans a way to begin this building process, but those benefits are limited to four academic years. Unfortunately, many use their benefits while trying to determine the next step and run out during their bachelor’s degree program. Our veterans signed up to defend our country and were willing to put their lives on the line; we want to be there to help them complete their education so they can take that next step.
Student Impact
"The Veterans Scholarship Fund gives veterans like me peace of mind. The help it provides allows my mind to focus on school and my heart on reaching toward serving people." Gerardo Villasenor ‘21, Mathematics, ‘23 Teacher Credentialing Program
How will funds be used?
The Veterans Scholarship Fund is designed to help cover tuition costs for veterans who have exhausted their Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits. This award would be stacked with any additional institutional and federal grant awards. The goal of this scholarship is to make it possible for student veterans to complete their education with as little debt as possible, as was intended with the GI Bill®. Your donation to this scholarship fund can keep a veteran enrolled in school as they gain the degree and skills needed to take that first step in their next career.
