VU Honors Program

The mission of the Vanguard University Honors Program (VUHP) is to raise up critical thinkers with Christ-like character to fulfill the calling of God in their generation. For the 2024-25 academic year, we aim to: (1) establish an Honors minor which students will receive upon graduation; (2) raise funds to hire an additional student worker; and (3) host our second annual Honors Senior Retreat with speakers including our University Faculty and Administration as well as President Mike Beals and his wife Faith.

Giving Day 2023 Update

Through Vanguard Giving Day 2023, we covered the costs for students to take the Insights Discovery assessment to enhance awareness of their gifts and personality strengths for their future careers and calling.

Why should donors support this fund?

VU Honors students are expected to strive toward Truth, Virtue, and Service with excellence and integrity as an example to the wider student body. The Honors Program focuses on the development of academic rigor, spiritual formation, and leadership represented by our core values of Critical Thinking, Character, and Calling. We plan to strengthen the quality of the program by implementing a new minor.

Student Impact

“Loved how practical this retreat was! It was very fitting to have this retreat at a hotel. I plan to take the advice given to me by the speakers into my future career.” Rebekah Pinedo ‘24, English

“The Honors Program has had a large impact on my life. I have been challenged, and it has encouraged me to take pride in my academics, all while keeping my purpose of showing God's glory at the forefront.” Ari Kochan '24, Liberal Studies/Integrated Teacher Education Program
