Frequently Asked Questions
What is Vanguard Giving Day?
Vanguard Giving Day is a 24-hour online giving campaign that supports programs, departments and initiatives throughout the University. The goal of Giving Day is to bring our community together, celebrating our collective power and transforming Vanguard through our shared generosity. The focus of the day will be on rallying Lions of all generations and affiliations to make a gift on November 6.
Why should I participate in Vanguard Giving Day?
Vanguard Giving Day is about coming together as a community of students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends and family to collectively support and advance Vanguard. Whether you participate as an Ambassador by rallying your friends and family to support Vanguard or you make a gift and help us spread the word on Giving Day, your participation will help enhance the student experience at Vanguard and ensure generations of students have access to the educational experience for which Vanguard is known.
Where should I give?
Give to what you are passionate about! Whether you support academics, athletics, student life, scholarships, campus improvements or one of our centers, your gift will fund the initiative you care about most and will support Vanguard’s next 100 years.
May I give more than one time or to more than one project?
Yes! Donors may support any campus fund they choose. Click here to learn more about all of the giving opportunities you can support on November 6.
What is the goal?
The goal of Vanguard Giving Day is to rally our pride for one purpose: to ensure generations of students will have access to the transformative educational experience for which Vanguard is known. We hope to energize Vanguard’s current supporters and inspire 500 alumni and 1,500 donors total to participate in annual giving for the first time. Gifts of all sizes are welcome and appreciated as all members of our community come together to support their passions and make a difference on this special day.
How do I make a gift?
Giving Day begins at 12 a.m. PST on November 6, at which point you’ll be able to make your gift via the Vanguard Giving Day website. Gifts to multiple designations are accepted and encouraged. Can’t wait to support Vanguard? Visit vanguard.edu/give.
You can also make a gift by calling (714) 966.5442 or mailing a check to: Vanguard University, Office of Advancement, 55 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
All gifts are tax-deductible in accordance with State and Federal law.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
No, gifts of any size have an immediate impact. Thank you for coming together with other Lions to support the areas that are meaningful to you.
Can I make a recurring gift?
Yes! Please select the box to be contacted about making a recurring gift after you enter your payment information.
Is my Vanguard Giving Day donation tax-deductible?
Absolutely! Vanguard University is a nonprofit 501(c)(3). Your gift qualifies for tax-deduction in accordance with IRS regulations. Gift receipts for your financial records will be provided. Please consult your tax professional for more information.
How does my gift make a difference?
Gifts of any size make a difference by providing funds that can be spent right away on the most pressing needs of the area you are supporting. Vanguard relies on your annual gifts because endowment funding and tuition do not cover the entire cost of a Vanguard education, and endowment funds—while absolutely critical to the mission of the University—can only be spent based on the original donors’ intent and are often limited to specific areas.
Where can I find Vanguard Giving Day updates?
This website! As we get closer to November 6, you will be able to read about the different challenges and learn more about ways to get involved. On November 6, you can track live progress, see who has donated, and more. Most importantly, you will be able to see the collective impact of so many people giving at the same time!
